Jennifer Ott from Pennsylvania had been following me on Instagram for a while before she approached me to create a cover for her children's book. Exciting. Fun.

We scheduled a Zoom meeting so she could tell me more about her book. We agreed on a fixed price, and then I got to work using her input.

It's always a bit nerve-wracking to send the first sketches to a client. Did I capture the essence of their idea? Is this what she had in mind? I felt a bit anxious, waiting for her reaction.

"O.M.G!!!!! I love them all. It was so hard to decide."

Phew, I worried for nothing. Once she chose the right sketch, I continued working on the final version. Again the positive feedback on the finished cover came just as fast back too.

"I love it!!!!!"

Her five exclamation marks were especially satisfying.

I did not only create the cover illustration, I also created the layout of the front and back cover of the book and placed the barcode which I created in my InDesign program on the back cover. Now she can publish her book without any issues. At least for the cover part.
