“I’m looking for an internship and came across your website.”
I get these emails quite often, addressed to “your team.” Whether it’s about an internship, a sales pitch for something “my team” really doesn’t need, or a proposal for a complete interior renovation.
It always makes me smile a little. Even though I’m very clear in my communication on my website and social media, many companies still seem to think I run a huge studio with an entire team working behind the scenes.
That team mostly consists of Kippie and me. Every now and then, the IT guy, in the form of my 24-year-old son, drops by to help with backup drives that refuse to connect. But that’s about as far as it goes.
No huge office building. No studio. No big team.
What I do have is a network of fellow freelancers who, just like me, are simply working away with a dog or cat nearby.
And to come back to that internship: unfortunately, I don’t have room for an intern either.
